"Aww~!" You squealed as you looked at Haru in his light blue kindergarten uniform. He looked absolutely adorable. You put on his little yellow hat and smiled. He couldn't have looked any cuter!! Sousuke watched as you fawned over your son. He had to admit that he was proud of his son since he was now 4 years old and starting school. Speaking of which, he had to get going now so that Haru wouldn't be late for his first day of school and he wouldn't be late for his job as a police officer.
"I don't wanna." Haru said when Sousuke told him that they had to go. "Well too bad. Let's go." He turned and went to put his shoes on. "I don't wanna." Haru repeated and clutched onto your dress.
"Haru sweetie, you have to go to kindergarten now, ok? I'll see you in a few hours to pick you up, then we can go get some mackerel to eat! What do you say?" You smiled gently, coaxing your son. He fell for it, wanting to get it over with as fast as possible so he could get his beloved fish.
Turning to Sousuke, he kicked his leg, "Come on! Let's go already!" He ran out of the house and to the car, leaving a hurt, grumbling Sousuke and a sweatdropping you.
------------------------------------------
"Ah, you must be Yamazaki-san and Haruka-kun. Welcome to Iwatobi Kindergarten!" A teacher smiled at the well-built police officer. "His name is Haru. I just came to drop him off." He stated bluntly, not wanting anyone to think his son was a girl. The teacher blinked before continuing, "Alright then, Haru-kun it is. Come in, come in!" She led them down a hallway to a classroom full of children Haru's age. One of them looked up, recognised Haru, and ran towards him.
"Haru-chan!" He giggled as he hugged the blue-eyed boy who didn't seem to return the hug. Sousuke didn't seem to recognise the child, although it seemed that Haru was friends with him. Waving goodbye to his son, Haru glanced back at him before turning around to play with his brunette friend. Sighing, Sousuke walked down the hallway before getting in his car and heading to the station.
----------------------------------------
“I’m home!” Sousuke called as he entered the house. You walked up to him, smiling, before giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. “Welcome home! Dinner’s almost ready. I hope you like mackerel?” You giggled as your husband gave you an unamused look. “Yeah, yeah. Where’s Haru?” He wondered, noting that his son was not beside you, as you would usually greet him together. “He’s at Makoto’s place for another hour. Could you pick him up?” You asked, walking back to the kitchen. “Sure.” He mumbled before taking off his shoes and following you.
“It’s been a while since we’ve been alone, you know?” He stated, wrapping his arms around you as you stirred the pot that was cooking on the stove. “Sousuke… H-Hey!”
----------------------------------------
“Bye Makoto.” Haru waved to the green-eyed boy who always seemed to brighten up around him. “Bye Haru-chan! See you tomorrow!” Sousuke started driving away, but Haru kept looking back in the direction of his friend’s house. “So what did you do today?” The teal-eyed man asked. “Played with Makoto.” “Did you make any new friends?” Haru nodded. “That’s good.” “I guess so.” Haru looked out the window at the passing scenery. The rest of the ride was silent except for the faint sound of the radio.
Arriving home, Haru hurriedly got out of the car, rushing to the door before impatiently waiting for Sousuke to open the door so he could get inside. Two minutes later, they were inside and greeted by none other than you.
“How was your day Haru?” You sweetly asked the little boy. His expression brightened instantly and he started talking all about what he had done. He was a totally different person around you, telling you all about his new friend Rin who also liked swimming. Sousuke went to sit on the sofa and opened up a newspaper, pondering as to why he would share all his experiences with you and not him.
----------------------------------------
“Sousuke,” You called from the living room. He went downstairs after tucking in Haru and bidding him goodnight. “Yeah?” He walked in, only to see you looking at a piece of paper. “What?” Did bills come early?” You simply smiled before handing it to him.
His heart melted when he saw a pretty decent drawing for a 4 year old of himself in his police officer outfit. At the top of the paper it said in scribbly writing, “My hero”.
It was at that moment that Sousuke realized that Haru might not hate him after all.

Location: Shūzō’s House
“Daiki! Stop picking fights with your brothers and WEAR YOUR SOCKS!” Shūzō shouts in response to the shrieks coming from the living room. The last thing he needs to worry about is how unnaturally adult the red haired 3 year old is for his age.
“Seijurou, good job getting ready while your older brother is being a pest”. The 3 year old puffs his chest and makes a sound that sounds curiously like “eh

Haruka's POV
* * * * *
Kids used to drive me crazy.
I thought they were demanding, loud, and especially, a handful.
Unlike some of my friends, I never babysat in high school.
I stayed as far away from kids as I could.
Then everything changed.
My daughter, __________, came into the world.
She's the one that changed my thoughts about kids upside down.
I first saw her about ten minutes after she was born; a moment I shall never forget.
She was crying and kicking her legs.
The moment I held her... she stopped.
When I looked into her bright, wide eyes, it was magical.
_________ was a kid.
_________ wasn't demanding or loud.
I thought

And I thought of you, my love
I thought of you.
As you walked past the sidewalks of Iwatobi with Haruka by your side, you noticed the intricate patterns of light and dark green resting on the gray cement. For some reason, all you could think of was Makoto. It bothered you how much you drew him in your spare time, and how much you thought of him.
"[Name]." Haruka stopped his steps, which caused you to come to a halt. You looked up at him and saw his sapphire hues intensely studying your features. Flustered, you looked away and tugged at his hand, hoping to ge
